These terms govern your use of the Crab Buddy app and website ("the Service"). By using Crab Buddy, you agree to these terms.

What Crab Buddy does

Crab Buddy provides crabbing condition scores based on publicly available weather, tide, swell, and regulatory data. Scores are informational and intended to help you plan trips.

Not professional advice

Crab Buddy is not a substitute for your own judgment. Conditions change rapidly. Always check current conditions at your spot, follow all CDFW regulations, and prioritize your safety. We are not responsible for decisions you make based on scores or data shown in the app.

Data accuracy

We pull data from NOAA, NDBC, Open-Meteo, and CDFW. While we strive for accuracy, we cannot guarantee that data from these sources is always correct, complete, or up to date. Data outages, sensor failures, and processing delays happen. If something looks off, trust your eyes over the app.

Your account

You need an account to use Crab Buddy. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. One account per person. Don't share accounts or create accounts for bots or scrapers.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Scrape, crawl, or bulk-download data from the app or API
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code
• Use the app for any unlawful purpose
• Interfere with the app's operation or other users' access
• Resell or redistribute data from the app

Tips and purchases

Tips are voluntary, non-refundable, and do not purchase any additional features or services. Tip transactions on iOS are processed by Apple, on Android by Google, and on the web by Stripe. Refund policies of each platform apply.

Intellectual property

The Crab Buddy name, logo, scoring algorithm, and app design are our property. Public data from NOAA, NDBC, and CDFW belongs to the public domain. You may not copy, modify, or redistribute our proprietary content without permission.

Availability

We aim to keep Crab Buddy available but cannot guarantee 100% uptime. We may take the service down for maintenance, updates, or if we decide to discontinue it. We'll try to give notice when possible.

Limitation of liability

Crab Buddy is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the app, including but not limited to: lost catches, injury, equipment damage, or decisions made based on app data.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms. You can delete your account at any time by emailing us.

Changes

We may update these terms. We'll note the "last updated" date at the top. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California.
